Something about fall just makes you want to get out and make memories with your family. There are a number of things to do and activities to find, and it can be overwhelming if you don’t know where to start. At DeWeese Design Salon Inc., we love fall family fun as much as you do. So, today we’ve put together a list of our favorite things to do in the fall around the Plainfield area.
Fun on the Farm
Ag-tourism really hits its stride in the fall. Farmers have figured out that families love to come and experience life on the farm, and there are several to choose from in Hendricks County. Whether you want to pick your own apples, hang out with alpacas, or simply pick out a pumpkin to carve, we’ve got you covered. Take the kids to Beasley’s Orchard for pumpkins, apples, and a corn maze, or check out Natural Valley Ranch for more animal interactions including horseback riding.
History Buffs
Once you’ve had your fill of farm fun, your older kids might enjoy learning a little about the history of Hendricks County. In keeping with the fall theme, you can visit the Avon Haunted Bridge and learn about the legend that goes with it. Your kids will enjoy learning the history with some spooky details thrown in. For those who prefer their history un-haunted, visit the Hendricks County Historical Museum which was previously the jail and sheriff’s residence.
Back to Basics
Finally, don’t feel like you have to plan an entire day of adventure to make sweet fall memories with your little ones. If you’d rather not spend the day picking a pumpkin or petting an alpaca, a walk or bike ride will mean just as much to your kids. And, you’re in luck, because Hendricks County is full of parks and trails to explore. Get some exercise while taking in the beautiful fall colors, and soak in the memories as you watch your kids enjoy their time in the leaves.
